The Yamaha Jazz Experience, a national improvising project for secondary school teachers and their pupils, kicks off in March 2009. At the start of the project we plan to run a free 1-day impro workshop in 9 UK music service locations:
Devon (confirmed), Portsmouth (confirmed), London/Essex (host needed), South Wales (tbc), Birmingham (tbc), Manchester (host needed), Yorkshire (host needed), Northeast England (host needed), Glasgow (host needed).

After the intial CPD, led by one of our jazz stars, participating teachers will coach school-based ensembles, with a final event at Cheltenham jazz festival in April 2010 and a competition offering the winning schools Yamaha prizes and gigs for their winning ensembles at the world-renowned Ronnie Scott's and The 606 jazz clubs in London.

If you are a head of music service in one of the above regions (shown in red) and would like to take part in this free national project, please contact me, Bill C Martin at bill.martin@gmx.yamaha.com. Further information is available from the home page of this site or you can phone me on 07970 196013.
